Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is your refund policy?

If you cancel your trip within 14 days prior to your trip, there is no refund. If you cancel your trip more than 14 days prior to your trip, we will refund you the balance of your trip, minus the 50% non-refundable deposit per person. If you miss your trip because you are late, or choose not to attend, for whatever reason, there is no rescheduling or refunds.

Blue Sky Outfitters seldom cancels or postpones a trip, but we reserve the right to do so when necessary: due to water conditions, weather, insufficient reservations, or other reasons beyond our control. In such a case, 100% of your fees will be refunded or applied to another trip, but not expenses incurred in travel.

Where are you located?

Blue Sky Outfitters no longer has a brick and mortar location. Our meeting location for our rafting trips is at Riverside Park in Cashmere. Our meeting location for our tubing trips is behind the 76 station in downtown Leavenworth.

Where should I park?

Blue Sky Outfitters does not have designated parking. For rafting trips Riverside Park has plenty of free parking within the park. For tubing trips, there is free and paid street parking throughout Leavenworth (parking during the high season can be hard to find, please plan your timing accordingly) .

Should I make a reservation or just book day of?

We are happy to accommodate bookings at any time based on availability. Weekends (especially Saturdays) are typically very busy, and do tend to sell out. Week days generally have a little more last minute availability. If you have a large group we do recommend reserving in advance to ensure your entire party is able to participate.

Is there a weight limit?

The weight limit for both rafting and tubing is 285lbs per person, due to restrictions on how much the boat/tube can handle in weight along with life jacket requirements.

Can I go if I'm pregnant?

Due to insurance reasons Blue Sky Outfitters cannot allow for anyone who is pregnant to go river rafting. However, we are able to accommodate for tubing, as it is simply a tube rental, and up to the discretion of the party involved as well as attaining written consent from a doctor.

Rafting Questions

What should I wear/bring?

Water shoes (or shoes that you don't mind getting wet, no slides or flip flops please)

Clothing that you are comfortable getting wet in (bathing suits or athletic wear are generally a good option)

Hats/Sunglasses/Sunscreen

DO NOT bring anything you don't want to get wet (electronics, expensive eye-wear/jewelry/watches)

Do you have lockers?

Blue Sky Outfitters does not have lockers. We recommend leaving everything you do not want to take on the river in your vehicle.

What is the age limit?

We are able to accommodate children 8 and up on our rafting trips.

Do you provide life jackets?

We provide both youth and adult life jackets.

How long is the trip?

The trip takes about two hours, this depends entirely on the river conditions. Generally the river is flowing fastest in May and gradually gets slower as the season progresses. This means that early season trips will have shorter trip times with bigger rapids, and late season trips will have longer trip times with less intense rapids.

What is the river like?

The Wenatchee is considered a class three river, on a scale out of five. The Wenatchee provides great rapids, while being wide and clear of dangerous debris. This means you will experience some great rapids without the need for any technical whitewater knowledge. The Wenatchee is appropriate for beginner and veteran rafters alike. Prepare to get wet!

How many people fit on a boat?

Most of our boats seat eight passengers plus a guide. Occasionally we will use six and ten seater boats depending on demand and river conditions.

Will I be with everyone in my party?

We try our best to keep groups together on the same boat. If you have a party larger than eight your party will likely need to split onto two boats.

How do private rafts work?

If you would prefer to have a private boat for you and your party we do offer private raft rentals. Each raft can accommodate a minimum of two and a maximum of eight.

Clothing that you are comfortable getting wet in (bathing suits or athletic wear are generally a good option)

Hats/Sunglasses/Sunscreen

Beverages and snacks

DO NOT bring anything you don't want to get wet (car keys, electronics, expensive eye-wear/jewelry/watches) - you can bring small waterproof drybags for these items

Do you have lockers?

Blue Sky Outfitters does not have lockers. We recommend leaving everything you do not want to take on the river in your vehicle.

What is the age limit?

We are able to accommodate children as young as 4 on our tubing trips.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! Small dogs are welcome to ride in your lap, or for larger dogs we offer dog tube rentals for $24.

Do you provide life jackets?

We provide both youth and adult life jackets. We do require that all children under age 13 wear a life jacket, above age 12 they are optional. At this time we do not have animal life jackets.

What if I have my own tube?

Only our rental tubes are allowed due to state transportation requirements and restrictions.

Where do I get my tube/what do I do with it at the end?

You will get your tubes at our launch point, and you can drop them off with our staff at our exit location.

What kind of tubes do you use?

We have a couple of different models of tube but they are all professional river tubes, with mesh or fabric lining.

Do you have multiple person tubes?

We currently only have individual tubes, however we can attach tubes together if you have children or dogs in your group, or just want to float together in small groups (2-3 tubes maximum, exceeding this limit makes it hard to maneuver and stay safe).

Do you have coolers/can I bring my own cooler?

We have cooler tubes for rent for $15, you are welcome to bring your own cooler.

Do I need to bring my own ice?

Yes. There is a 76 Gas Station/large convenience store and Subway at our meeting location where you can purchase ice, beverages, snacks, water toys, etc.

What is the river like?

The stretch of river that we tube is all flat water, and the majority of the route is shallow. Please keep in mind that river conditions may vary depending on time of year and other environmental factors. There are some places that have a strong current, and are deep, if you’re not comfortable in the water we do highly recommend wearing a life jacket.

Is there a longer float?

Blue Sky Outfitters only offers one trip length. Our float is entirely on the Wenatchee river, thus, both upstream and downstream of our current route there are rapids that are not safe to tube.
