Formed from a collapsed Lava Tube coming off of Mount Adams, you first desend over 100 feet by trail to enter this amazing little canyon. Now protected from future dams by being classified as a "Wild & Scenic River", this is a very special river indeed.
The White Salmon Rafting adventure jump-starts right in the middle of one of the most challenging rapids, Top Drop. Unique, pool-and-drop rapids await, such as Corkscrew, Waterspout, and the exciting Stair Step Falls.
You will love the White Salmon rivers high basalt cliffs that rise and fall along the banks, teeming with tiny wildflowers, lady-finger ferns, and lush vegetation. With the cliff walls so close, you will have a very intimate feeling towards the amazingly beautiful river, just across the Columbia River Gorge from Hood River Oregon. 14 foot Husum Falls, Totally Optional!
Husum Falls is the tallest commercially raftable waterfall in the nation, at 14 foot - Class 5! Right before the waterfall, we will stop at a beach and teach everyone what to do to stay in the boat.
You'll have the option of getting out and walking around the falls. In the interest of safety first, all of our guides have the final decission as to who runs the falls.
This is one of the highlights of our trip, where a photographer will be taking pictures of your plunge.
(Husum Falls isRunnable Only At Specific Water Levels). Call us for details. Then finish off with the fun-filled Class 3 rapids of the lower half.
The White Salmon rafting trip is recommended for paddlers who are in relatively good shape and ready to take on the challenge of a technical Class 4 river.
