What You Need To Bring For Your Skagit River Trip

Feel free to email us or call us at 800-228-RAFT if you have any questions about what to bring on your Skagit River Raft Trip.

You should bring:

  • Warm pants and sweater or fleece (non-cotton)
  • Warm coat (optional in July/August)
  • Thermal underwear (optional in July/August)
  • Warm hat (optional in July/August)
  • Gloves or mittens (optional in July/August)
  • Swimsuit or shorts to be worn under wetsuit
  • Rain jacket or windbreaker
  • Change of clothes to be left in your car for after the trip
    (optional for Eagle Float participants)
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Any medications you may need

Optional:

  • Cheap Sunglasses
  • Hat to shield your face from sun
  • Chapstick with sunscreen
  • Waterproof camera
  • Binoculars
  • Guide Gratuity

Blue Sky Outfitters Provides:

  • Water resistant drybags on each raft (for extra sweaters, hats, etc.)
  • Coast Guard approved life jackets
  • Farmer John style wetsuits (for whitewater trips)
  • Neoprene booties (for whitewater trips)
  • Optional splash jackets (for whitewater trips)

All Participants: It is important for your comfort that you do not bring any cotton clothing to wear on the trip (sweatshirts, jeans, etc.) - unlike wool and synthetics like polypropylene and acrylic, cotton will not keep you warm if it gets wet.

For those on the Eagle Float: Please remember to bring warm waterproof boots to wear - no tennis shoes as your feet will get cold. We use self bailing rafts, and they do have a small amount of water on the floor. And don't forget your camera and binoculars!

For those on the Whitewater Trip: We'll supply sleeveless neoprene wetsuits and splash jackets but you'll want to bring multiple layers of fleece, wool, or synthetic layers (such as long underwear or skiing under-layers) to wear underneath your wetsuit. We'll also supply neoprene booties for your feet but you should bring one or more pairs of wool or thick synthetic socks to wear under your booties.
