2016 Leavenworth Festivals

May 2016


13-15 Leavenworth Maifest The Bavarian celebration of spring, which this year runs from Friday through Sunday and includes Bavarian music, art and dancing, a traditional German march through town or ‘Festzung,’ sword battles and a trebuchet demonstration. At 10AM on Saturday, a horse and carriage will bring a new 95-foot ‘Maibuam’ pole to be raised in the town square for the first time in 15 years! 15 Icicle Creek New Play Festival. Two new plays come to Icicle Creek, a ‘unique Northwest institution’ where plays can further develop and be seen by Leavenworth audiences for the first time. ‘Daisy’ by Sean Devine at 1PM and ‘Mary’s Girl’ by Wendy Macleod at 7PM. 19-22 14th Annual Spring Bird Festival Beginning on Thursday with a benefit screening of the film ‘Audobon,’ this festival includes daily bird watching field trips, raptor presentations, workshops and speaker presentations in the evenings. For more info, visit the Wenatchee River Institute.


21-22 Lake Chelan Spring Barrel Tasting Barrel Tasting weekend offers the ability to taste the next great wines and future releases from over twenty Lake Chelan Valley Wineries. For more info visit the Lake Chelan Wine Valley website.

4 Leavenworth Spring Wine Walk Sample wines from more than twenty wineries in downtown Leavenworth. Tickets include wine glasses, bags, prize drawings, specialty cheeses and live music. See more info at the Cascade Farmlands event page.


13- 14th Annual Cascade Golf Classic. Shotgun start at 12:30 PM for this classic tournament at the beautiful Leavenworth Golf Club, where all proceeds go toward a new ambulance for Cascade Medical Center. 16-19 Leavenworth International Accordion Festival Celebrating according music with free world class performances and free lessons, jam sessions, workshops and competitions. An accordion parade takes place on Saturday, June 18th. See more info at the Accordion Celebration website.

19-25 Icicle Creek Summer Symphony An inspiring & intensive week of orchestral study & performance in a spectacular mountain setting with Icicle Creek Center for the Arts. Visit the Icicle Creek website for more information.


3-4 10th Annual Cruizin Chelan Car Show Sign up your classic or modern car (all makes and models welcome) and get ready for the ‘museum on wheels’ full of coupes, sedans and street rods at the ‘Show’n’Shine.’ Also hosting the Pacific Northwest Pro Classic BBQ and Friday night fireworks show at Don Morse Park. July 2016


4 Kinderfest & Fourth of July Celebration A family fun celebration on Independence Day with games, prizes, crafts, 'touch a truck,' face painting, cupcake walk, balloons, cotton candy, shaved ice, popcorn, and much more. For more info, visit the Kinderfest event page.


7-16 Lake Chelan Bach Fest Nine days of classical, jazz, and string performances paired with wine tastings and educational programs for all ages. Visit the Lake Chelan Bach Fest website for more info.


23-31 Icicle Creek Young Pianist Camp A week-long camp for middle & high school students with intermediate/advanced piano skills, featuring individual lessons, master classes and workshops, along with nature hikes through the Cascade Mountains and day trips to Leavenworth. 27 Sixth Annual Wenatchee Wine and Food Festival A wide variety of local restaurants, caterers, breweries and distilleries visit the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, where the winners of the judged wine competition will also be announced. For tickets and more info, visit the festival website.

October 2016


1, 7-8, 14-15 Leavenworth Oktoberfest The Leavenworth Oktoberfest is the next best thing to being in Munich! Always held on the first three weekends of October, this year’s festival kicks off on Sept. 30 with a parade through the town and a 1:00 PM keg tapping ceremony. Buy tickets online or at the gates for multiple venues, full selections of beer and other drinks, bratwurst and more. Bring the kids and enjoy the ‘Kinderplatz’ downtown, and use the free shuttle to get around Leavenworth, or use the hotel shuttles to reach areas outside of town for a small fee.
