Northwest Windsurfing Mecca

Wildflowers in the Columbia Gorge

The Columbia Gorge has long been hailed as the kiteboarding and windsurfing mecca of the Northwest, because of its constant easterly wind and strong westerly river current. You'll see flocks of people enjoying the warm weather and surfing the river, right off a sandy beach in Hood River, OR. You can take lessons to get you up on a board in no time!

Multnomah Falls in the Columbia Gorge

But don't let that overshadow the rest! Based in the city of Hood River, just an hour East of Portland, Oregon, the Columbia Gorge wine region is home to a stunning diversity of wineries and vineyards, known as "a world of wine in 40 miles". For a more intimate experience of the gorge's peaks and valleys, take a hike! Check out seasonal wildflowers along the way or one of the magnificent waterfalls cascading into the Columbia, like the famous Multnomah Falls.
